Rainy Day Retreats

There are many places to go and things to do, rain or shine.
Get those kids out of the house and into some fun!

The Please Touch Museum is a wonderful place to let your toddler explore! Newly relocated in Memorial Hall at Fairmount Park, the space is significantly larger with more interactive settings. Kids can have a tea party with Alice in Wonderland, work on a construction site, and even see an interactive show.

The Franklin Institute has many continuing exhibits, such as The Giant Heart, Kid Science, Space Command, and The Train Factory. All exhibits are interactive and have an educational purpose. Children become engineers and investigators in The Train Factory. In Space Command, there are 30 interactive stations, even one that uses a satelite where you can view your own neighborhood.

The Academy of Natural Sciences has tons of exciting exhibits for all ages. In the Academy's Children's Museum, called The Outside In, kids can discover the outdoors, hands-on. They can meet live animals and enjoy activities usually found in nature while learning along the way!

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is not only for adults, yes they have the kids in mind as well! They offer family programs on Sundays that include tours, performances, and art projects. Guess what else is great about Sundays at the Art Museum? Admission is donation only! If you have the money to give than great, but if you don't you are still welcome to enjoy the beautiful displays inside!
